2014 is full of surprises

I have a surprise for 2014, one that I am not ready to reveal. Why? Because I don't want to count my chicks before they hatch. But, I wanted to tell you a bit about it to tease you. I do love to tease...
I am writing a whole new story!
I can't tell you who will publish it or what the topic is. That I will keep super secret until I find it a home. Until then I will tell you that it will be unlike anything you've ever read.
I am taking a step back from The Visitors Series to write this new book but that doesn't mean that I am done with Brylee and her stories. I will go back and revisit her once I am done with this book.
I had to start this book only because it was begging to be written.
Over the course of the year I hope to make some changes to my Author life.Changes that I pray will only help boost my career so that I may one day find myself content with the books I have written and never want to stop doing this.
For now I can tell you that The White Door will be released in February. I am very happy with that book and I hope that you love it as well.
Happy New Year to you all!

What's your next project?
Book of the Lost (Book 5 in the Midnight Guardian series) just released on November 30. I'm working like a crazy woman on House of Gammen which will be the 6th and final book in the Midnight Guardian YA paranormal series. As for my plans for after the series, I'm working on a werewolf trilogy and a Mothman project.

What's your favorite love story? (movie or book)

It would have to be The Princess Bride. Swashbuckling, deceit, miracles, true love...what's not to like?

What’s your favorite line from any movie?
"Doesn't he own a shirt?" - Edward Cullen in Eclipse. It makes me giggle.

 What's your favorite holiday?
Christmas, of course! I'm curled up on the couch watching The Santa Clause with my boys right now. I host a big family party on Christmas Eve where we eat, play games, and decorate gingerbreadmen cookies. The holidays are such a magical time of year.

Have you ever written a holiday themed story? If so what is it titled?
No, I haven't, and I write paranormal so ghosts on Christmas Eve might be weird...oh, oops...I guess that wouldn't be weird at all. However, instead of going a Dickens-route, I suspect that my story would have a kick-butt girl, surely some fighting, and a smidge of romance.

What's the best present you've ever received and who gave it to you?
I was dating my future husband, Jason. His mother was known for hand-stitching an elaborate Christmas stocking for every single member of their family. Not just immediate family, but every nephew, niece, cousin, you name it. Every baby born within the family got their own unique stocking. A few weeks before Christmas, Jason came to my house with a box. I unwrapped it and immediately welled up with tears. You see, his mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer and her health was rapidly deteriorating. Still, in this box lay my very own handmade Christmas stocking.
The stocking, which I still hang every year, depicts Mrs. Claus helping Mr. Claus pack his famous sack. I was so overcome, I started sobbing. This woman had spent hours and energy she didn't have to spare to make this gift for me. Surely, she made this because she came to the realization that she wouldn't be around to see our first Christmas as a married couple, my first Christmas in her family. How could I ever deserve this? As I continued to weep, Jason softly put his hand on mine. I put the box aside, suddenly remembering that this had to be much harder for him because this was his mother. I wrapped my arms around him in a hug. He pushed me away. "Look inside," he said. For he knew the real reason she had made the stocking. I was family. Inside the beautifully crafted Christmas stocking was my engagement ring.

What's your favorite thing to do in the winter?
I love Ohio at this time of year. A chill hits the air, and we nearly always have snow for Christmas. In the daytime, I love riding sleds with my boys. We have some great hills. At night, I love gathering up in the car and riding around to look at Christmas lights.

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why?
We're a little competitive in my family. Each of us has a map with all 50 U.S. states. When we visit a state, we get to color it in on our map. So, I'd love to fill in the rest of my map starting with Alaska.

If you were to be turned into an animal what would it be and why?
I'd love to be a cat because I could sleep all day, I don't like mice, and I think I'd be really good at purring.

Who is your favorite writer and have you met them?
One of my favorites is Charlaine Harris. I met her last year, and she truly lived up to my expectations. She took a copy of my book, Of Sun & Moon, and I thought I was going to hyperventilate!

Sum this past year up in two sentences.
Sometimes scary, sometimes exciting, but always blessed.

What is your New Years resolution?

The White Door coming February

Books 1 & 2 of The Visitor's Series are available for purchase everywhere books are sold. Book 3, The White Door will be out (fingers crossed) in Feb. I'm currently accepting bloggers/book pages to assist me in spreading the cover love all over! The cover will be very unique and I'll tell you why. My niece, Tayler, will be the cover model. I'm actually getting photos of her this weekend! I'm so stoked. Tayler will be the face of Brylee Brason and will do a great job! If you are interested in helping me with this task please email my assistant Candice :
candicesimpsonpa@gmail.com

Me and Tayler last year. Trust me, she's even more gorgeous without her braces!

 Here is the Synopsis:
“When I had first moved here I was still a girl who cherished the normality of teen life. Now, after being here a year I came to love a boy who was both strong and courageous. I made real friendships that would last even after death. The selfish girl my grandmother warned me of becoming had vanished.
A girl who stood tall with the powers to see the dead and help those in need appeared in her place.”

In Brylee’s world nothing is normal. She sees and speaks with the dead and at 17 years old she already has a full plate. She’s in her senior year and college is just around the corner.
She must learn to control her gifts of seeing the dead and survive in the land of the living if she wants to fulfill her dreams of college.
She succeeded in ridding the Brown family curse from her boyfriend, Ephraim but in the end her best-friend lost her life. Now a whole slew of new problems present itself and like always Brylee is tempted to run for the hills. With Ephraim at her side she must come to grips with the reality that she is not a normal girl and she never will be.
What will happen when the town turns on her and her house? Or better yet when a body is unearthed in her backyard? Brylee will be forced to make more decisions than ever before.
